“OM SRI SARAVANA BAWA NAMAHAH”

SACRED INAUGURATION OF THE NORTHERN NINE STORIED MAJESTIC HOLY CASTLE TOWER AT LORD SRI KARTHIKEYA MAHA MANDIR (NALLUR SRI KANDASWAMY MAHA KOVIL) AT JAFFNA PENINSULA

DR.RAGHAVAN PADMANATHAN (Canberra) & DR.GAYATRI PADMANATHAN (Chandigarh, Punjab)

We are so delighted to know the sacred inauguration of the Northern nine story ( ‘Navadala Adi Nuuthana’, ‘Raja Gambira’, ‘Swarna Swarga Raja Gopura Kuber Vaasal’) of our most revered ‘Kalyug’ (current era) God Sri Karthikeya Swamy / Sri Skanda/ Sri Subramaniya. According to the historical documentations, it was originally built in 9th Century A.D. Thanks to Shree Kumaradas Maapana Mudaliyar - Temple Administrator & his family took care of the welfare and very constructive administration of this miraculous Temple through many generations, and experienced many adversities & turmoil.

Our family lived very close to the vicinity of the Temple for many generations and we left our birth city - Jaffna way back from 1977.  Our entire family is now scattered and living in various continents but our love for Nallur’s Skanda never diminished through decades. In fact every day, hours together we discuss about this Temple. My North Indian friends are amazed to learn about the systematic divine services those are being discharged at the Temple. They are awe struck to watch videos and the photos of the various Holy functions of the Temple.

My first visit to this Temple after, 1978 was in December 2009 with ‘Shaiva Shree’ Dharmalinga ‘Gurrukkal’ of Sri Kanchipuram Kamakshi Temple. Later on, it was in July 2010. I had a golden opportunity to witness the entire sequence of the Holy annual festival. I made many friends who are involved in the holy services at the temple.

Sister Dr. Gayatri visited this Temple in June, 2015 after 1982. I knew that the Northern ‘Rajagopuram’ will be completed and will undergo an elaborated holy ceremony during the annual festival in 2015. Showering the sacred waters from various rivers from all continents on the Copulas of the tower is one of the essential procedures during the Maha Kumba Abhishekam.

Fortunately sister has gathered the water of Holy Sri Ganga from the higher ranges of Holy Himalayas before it touches the ground. She and her research students climbed up on the Himalayas and collected. I arranged the Sacred Ganga water from Sri Haridwar. One of our family friends Mrs. Balinder Kaur Shergill – a highly devoted Sikh lady has sent her team to various places in the Punjab State (The Urdu word Punjab means Land of Five Rivers) got the waters from Holy Rivers such as Ravi, Sutlej - Beas, and Jehlum. Sister has given the waters in the bottles to Mr.Thuyavan, one of the most dedicated ‘sewak’ of the Temple. He is in charge for making the special garlands to deities of our scared Temple. Mr.Thuyavan informed that the waters from the Indian sacred rivers are kept in special pots and they would be poured on the copulas by the priests during the holy services of the inauguration of the Northern Tower. Thanks to all who helped our sacred mission.  Besides, sister used to tell me that for the inauguration of the Northern Rajagopuram she would be there. Surprisingly when the wall was broken to make the entrance, she was there and witnessed the event. The trip was never planned nor did she know that the ‘Katpurath Thiruvilla’ of 2015 would also be the day for breaking of the wall to make the entrance of the Northern Rajagopuram. She also tells me that on that day when she was going to the Temple, the moment she started getting down from the car and kept her foot down on the sand the Holy Bell – the sound of which she is always attracted to, started, it was 4pm!

I had tried to get the holy waters from Yamuna and Brahmaputra Rivers but I could not succeed at that time and I was sure Lord Sri Karthikeya would bless me to get the Holy waters of the above said rivers for the Western Tower inauguration near future.

Recently, (August, 2016) I went with my friend Ravi from Sydney and my younger sister Dr.Gayathri to Rishikesh and Hardwar and collected the waters from Holy Sri Ganga  & Holy Yamuna. We are preserving them for the Maha Gopura Abhishekam of the final castle tower at the Western part.

Unbelievable incident at the Holy Ganga River at Rishikesh near Sri Laxman Jhula :

Lakshman Jhula (Hindi) is an iron suspension bridge situated in Muni Ki Reti in Tehri Garhwal district of the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It was erected over the Ganges River and is a landmark of Rishikesh. A similar bridge further downstream from Lakshman Jhula is Ram Jhula.

It is said that Lakshmana crossed Ganges on jute ropes between the place where this bridge is built. Lakshman Jhula was completed in 1929.

An assurance from a friendly female Canine: After seeing the graceful speed flow of water at Sri Gangaji, sister Gayatri was bit reluctant to get into this holy river. Believe it or not a young looking pleasant female canine came from somewhere and licked my sister, then got into the water flow and smiled at my sister. Her action made us to understand that mother Sri Ganga will protect us. It was a holy experience..she came from nowhere and shown us .."fear not ..she is with us". We never knew this canine before but she was extremely friendly. Probably might had sent by Lord Shiva or his son Sri Bhairav Nath.  The entire crowd at the river bank was speechless. ..sister is friendly with all animals and spends almost 80% of her salary to feed all stray dogs, birds and other animals

“KEEP YOUR HEAD HIGH & REMEMBER THE FACT THAT LORD SRI KARTHIKEYA GIVES THE HARDEST BATTLES TO HIS STRONGEST SOLDIERS- YOUR LIFE IS NOT COMPLETE WITHOUT DEFEATING THE VILLIANS …SO NEVER BE AFRAID OF POVERTY, INJUSTICE AND TURMOILS …HE NEVER LETS HIS DEVOTEES TO FACE THE DEFEATS”

The first family of Holy Hinduism
